Should we take a lesson?
Yes. A lesson with one of Hawksnest’s professional instructors can make the difference between a frustrating experience and a joyful one. Experience tells us that those who attempt to ski or board for the first time without professional instruction don’t return to the sport. Even though skiing and snowboarding are relatively easy to learn, simple techniques must be mastered correctly.

Our qualified instructors will teach you to ski and ride quickly and safely. Forget about the trial and error of learning by yourself or learning bad habits from unqualified friends. A qualified instructor will quickly turn basic skills such as balance, pressure, rotary, and edging into the tools you need to enjoy a lifetime of fun on the snow.

Can I take a lesson with my family?
Yes, you can. We recommend our semi-private class for the family who wishes to stay together. Note: Parents with small children should consider having separate private classes for their children. Different ages learn at different speeds. Parents with small children, ages 5-11, should consider enrolling their children in our Kiddy Hawk School.

Should I take a private or group lesson?
Private snowsports lessons for ages 3 and up are the ultimate way to improve your technique. Whether you are new to the sport or striving to reach the next level, a private lesson provides personal attention that no other lesson can match. You can even set up a series of lessons with the same instructor. Three and four-year olds must take private lessons.

Your technique will improve quickly when you work one-on-one with one of our qualified instructors. They will teach you the progression of skills required to become a great skier/rider. A private lesson will help you avoid common pitfalls and learn good habits, no matter your ability level.

Group lessons for ages 8 and up provide an economical and fun way to learn the basics or improve upon your skills. Enjoy the camaraderie of your classmates, you may even meet a friend for life, it has happened.

Relative to other mountains in the area, our group classes are small in size, averaging 7 or 8 students compared to 15-28 at other area mountains.

Our core staff has hundreds of collective years teaching snowsports. Many are level II and III certified Professional Ski Instructors of America. Our mantra is professionalism, patience, practice, and fun.

Whether you're a first timer or a seasoned veteran we have an instructor who can help you improve your skills.

If you have never skied before, let one of our instructors guide you through the exciting process of learning to ski/ride. They will assist you in a safe environment.

Intermediate and advanced skiers/riders have a lot to gain from both private and group lessons. At this stage in skiing/riding it is important to receive feedback from a qualified instructor so you can avoid developing bad habits, and get guidance for improving in the future.
